Tishman developed, owned, asset managed and sold the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista hotel. In 1982, Tishman was awarded the construction management assignment for Walt Disney’s EPCOT Center and in 1983 developed the 814-room Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista, an official Walt Disney World hotel located in the Walt Disney World resort, with over 65,000 square feet of meeting space. This marked the firm’s foray into the hotel development business. Construction on the 625,000-square-foot property began in October, 1982 and was completed exactly one year later. From its conception, as directed by Tishman, the hotel was designed, planned and scheduled to ensure the shortest possible construction cycle while maintaining the highest standard. As the owner and builder of the hotel, Tishman’s goal was to set innovative standards for the lodging industry in terms of aesthetics, comfort, and use of high technology. In August of 2010, after nearly 30 years of ownership, Tishman completed the sale of the hotel at a record price per key for the time.
